It’s November already?

This has to be the fastest year in my life yet. I’m finding it hard to believe that it is November already. 2006 has been the most challenging and emotionally-driven year ever for me. At least the year will be over soon and it will all be a fresh slate.

Novemeber also marks the end of the NASCAR season. It has been one of those weird twist and turn silly seasons. So many drivers are changing car makes and teams. Next season will be so weird with well-known drivers in different rides. Ford Racing has lost some great drivers for next year. Mark Martin to a Chevy? Dale Jarrett to a Toyota? Elliott Sadler to a Dodge? One word: OUCH! So what drivers have Ford Racing teams gained? Two rookies (David Gillaland, David Ragan) and Robby Gordon. Ford can just scratch off winning a Manufacturer’s championship for next year as well.

NBA season began this week, but I’m not as excited as I normally am. The Kings organization has changed even more since last season. Key players such as Bonzi Wells were lost, and Coach Adelman was fired. I saw part of the Kings game on Wednesday night, and yes, the Kings are playing better defense under Coach Musselman. My current concern with this existing roster is whether or not this team will be in the playoffs this year.

Well, I guess I’ve rambled on long enough for now. Next week I’m taking some well deserved vacation away from work.

General Update – May 15, 2006

My poor blog has been ignored for the past week :( So here are some quick updates:

Life in general: Going very well. Can’t complain at all. Had a great weekend! More to come on this subject at a later date.

Rick Adelman firing: I was shocked watching the news conferences. The Kings General Manager looked like someone had kicked him in the stomach. It must have been tough having to fire his longtime friend. Adelman’s conference was even worse. All he got before the firing was a 5 minute phone call from a Maloof brother? Please. A coach that lead the team to 8 playoff berths deserved better.

Maloof Brothers: I’m really disappointed in them. So disappointed I’m about ready to give up on the Kings. Their hands-on approach is turning out to be a nightmare. They should a long look at how great the San Francisco 49ers are doing with their hands-on owners. My hope in the future of the team greatly went down when they fired Coach Adelman.

Replacement Rumors: I sure hope that the rumors are not true about Don Nelson. If Nellie becomes the coach of the Kings, I’m done. Aboslutely done. I’m hoping that the Kings will pick someone like Stan Van Gundy, Terry Porter, Byron Scott, or Elston Turner. There are also rumors floating around that Coach Larry Brown will be bought out of his contract with the Knicks. I’m sorry, not interested in him either.

Saturday’s Race: I am so thankful that Greg Biffle finally broke his streak of bad luck and won the race. I just wish his teammate Carl could get a win. Maybe he will this Saturday at the All-Star Race.

Thank you, Rick Adelman!

Well, this has been one hell of a week for Kings fans.  First the loss and end of the season Friday and now today something is happening regarding Rick Adelman I was saddened to just get the following Sacramento Kings News alert via the Sacramento Bee:

Source: Adelman out as Kings coach

The Rick Adelman era in Sacramento is over.

According to inside sources, Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie is expected to announce at a 3 p.m. news conference today that the coach who led them to eight consecutive playoff berths will not be back next season.

Please oh please… don’t let the Don Nelson rumors be true. :(

What are the Maloofs thinking?

What a weekend in sports!

This last weekend proved to be a bittersweet weekend for me in regards to sports.  My beloved Sacramento Kings were knocked out of the playoffs in Game 6 by San Antonio.  In the end, it turned out to be a memorable season.  If only the Kings had acquired Ron Artest sooner, things might have been a little different.  But I have to admit that he followed through with his promise – the Kings made the playoffs!  All I know is I want a Ron-Ron Jersey! :D

Was that Richmond race exciting or what?  I am so glad that Junior won!  I was so sick of Jimmie Johnson winning!  At least Carl Edwards was in the Top 10 this time.  That boy has a lot of ground to make up if he’s going to be in the “Race for the Chase.”  Probably the best part of the race was when the whiner’s (Jeff Gordon) car stopped working.  That just made my day. :D  Give me a Roush Racing or DEI car in victory lane any day!

Kings lose.

Damn.  Now the series is 3-2 in favor of San Antonio.  Friday night just might be the end of the season for the Kings.  I sure hope not!  If anything, I hope they take it to a game 7 just to tire out the Spurs.  I really want an interesting NBA championship game this year that doesn’t involove the Spurs or the Pistons.  Is that wishful thinking or what?

GO KINGS!

Possible First Round Upsets…

Playoff basketball has been very surprising this year, especially in the Western Conference!  Who would have thought that the Lakers or the Kings would be giving the 1 and 2 seeds so much grief?  Both teams have been on their game.  If someone would have told me that the 7th seed Lakers would take a 3-1 lead over Phoenix or the 8th seed Kings would be tied 2-2 against the Spurs, I would have said that they were nuts!  It’s very exciting basketball to watch!  I’m so glad that the NBA changed the first round of the playoffs to a 7-game series.  It makes for some really great basketball.

Here’s for some upsets!

GO KINGS!

Kings lost in Overtime.

Damn. I only saw the first half of action and then promptly fell asleep. You would think the glow from my TV and the 5.1 surround sound would have kept me awake. But nope, I fell asleep. Ah well. If the Kings don’t win Friday at ARCO, color their season finished.

GO KINGS!

Flagrant Foul 2.

Damn. No Ron-Ron for Game 2. This better light a fire under the other Kings players to do *something*. It just seems like the NBA is acting more and more like NASCAR these days. They bend the rules for the darlings of the league, but the known “bad boys” are punished. Come on folks, the playoffs are physical. There was a hell of a lot more hitting than what Ron did. It’s just so frustrating. I’m really starting to believe the other Kings fans of a conspiracy.

GO KINGS.
