Chivalry still alive…

This morning I was walking to my prototyping area from my office when I opened a door for a lady about my age. Her comment “Wow, there are still some true gentlemen out there. I lost my faith in men.  Chivalry is still alive!” I was kind of shocked by this statement, but at the same time it was refreshing to hear. My question is this – where are all the decent women hiding? I’ve lost my faith in women, and have just about given up hope of finding the “one”. This weekend I was telling a friend of mine that I’m satisfied with my life right now, and don’t really need to be involved with someone in order to be happy. For some reason the comment that this woman made this morning gave me some hope.

The Land of Wii…

This month I was fortunate enough to pick up a Wii. It has been a remarkable gaming system, but accessories have been hard to find for it. I have been very careful with the Wiimote so far, but I found a site tonight that shares stories of other Wii users who have had mishaps while playing their Wii systems. It’s amazing what kind of damage could be done playing this system.  Everything from damaged TVs, hurt pets, and hurt significant others (especially girlfriends). Check out wiihaveaproblem.com!

What’s up Y’all?

It’s been some time since this blog/journal has been updated. There has been way too much stuff that has been keeping me busy. Earlier this month I went to Las Vegas to attend the NASCAR races. It was a very interesting experience this time since the track has been re-done. For more on my trip to Vegas, check out my blog at the Rowdy Racing Social Network. If you are a NASCAR fan, Rowdy is the place to be.

Work has been busy as usual – I have been working on patch updates with our existing clients. I am also working with Windows Vista and Office 2007. Both are such different beasts that Vista won’t be ready for prime time for a little while. Too much software is not working correctly or at all. Oh well, at least I have some really good build notes that will make things easier when it is time to go Vista.

As for working out, I haven’t been to Healthsport at all this month. Things have been just way too busy since coming back from Vegas. My goal is to resume going to the gym tomorrow. I’m feeling it. One thing I have noticed is when I work out, I feel better mentally and physically.

The TiVo prayer…

Almighty TiVo

We thank you for all the gifts you have given us

The power to freeze live TV to go take a leak is nothing short of godlike.

Let’s not forget fast-forwarding through commercials.

It seems greedy to ask anything more of you

Oh magic box…

But if you malfunction and miss the Super Bowl

We will destroy you in the alley with baseball bats.

Amen.

Have I ever mentioned how much I Love the show “How I Met Your Mother”? It’s just the best show on TV, folks!

Gonna Miss Ya, BP!

Definitely sad news last week when it was announced that ol’ “BP”, Benny Parsons, passed away. It has been a sad month in the NASCAR world. BP was a one of a kind stock car driver as well as a broadcast personality. He made the races more enjoyable and was very personable – someone you would like to invite into your home. I always looked forward to when NBC/TNT did the NASCAR races so that I could hear BP give his vast knowledge and insight to NASCAR. No one can ever top BP when it comes to announcing a NASCAR race.

MacWorld San Francisco 2007

After a 2 year absence I attended MacWorld SF this year.  It was amazing how many different vendors peddled anything under the sun for the iPod.  The Apple iPhone (or whatever it will be called after the Cisco lawsuit) was absolutely incredible.  If this widescreen design makes it onto the iPod video I will be sold!  This year I went with my boss and a colleague and we had a blast.  We also had a lot of good food while we were down there.  There’s just something about the city that I love, yet at the same time I am always glad to be back to Humboldt County.

1/8/06 – One Year Later

It’s been exactly one year since I was giving my “relationship” walking papers. I don’t miss the drama and the constant ups and downs that the relationship had. However, I do wish her the best and happiness with her life.

As for me, I’m continuing to work on improving myself. This exercise thing has been working out well so far and I feel pretty good after the workouts. I feel less winded when walking on campus and doing normal chores. Can’t beat that! :) Now if only work wasn’t so insane day in and out.

Gotta love Scrubs! :)

It’s paying off so far!

Working out seems to be paying off so far.  I haven’t really lost any weight yet (a few lbs. here or there), but I definitely have more energy.  The only problem I’m having right now is that I am becoming lightheaded due to my blood pressure medication.  The good news is I took my blood pressure today and it was 106/76.  Wow – this is a big improvement over my highest BP of 160/110.  I am very happy.
