Getting back into the swing of things…

Tonight was the first time I’ve been to the gym this year.  I took it fairly easy and only went through the Weight Loss program on the elliptical.  For a little over 28 minutes, I burned 380 calories.  Not bad for the first day back.  I was surprised that I did not have too many lingering effects from the flu I had a few weeks back.  The thing that worried me the most is that I would start into a coughing fit.  Also, one of the nice things about tonight is that my co-worker is now working out at the same gym.  It definitely makes time go faster.

Day #1 Log

Machine: Elliptical

Bag O’ Bits now 1!

Wow, I didn’t even realize it but the 3rd creation of my blog has been up for a year now. It’s amazing how time passes quickly. I haven’t really posted much lately as I’ve been spending a lot of time on the Rowdy Racing Social Network. If you don’t know Rowdy and you are NASCAR fan, Rowdy is the place to be for all your NASCAR news, rumors, and plain interactive fun. The hosts are very accessible via e-mail and their podcasts are entertaining.

As for NASCAR, how about those Chevys? Being a Ford racing fan I have to say I’m impressed with what Chevy is bringing to the track week after week. I never thought I would be rooting for a Chevy Driver, but I am. Who could resist Tony “Smoke” Stewart? Besides, their commercials have been entertaining this year:

Chivalry still alive…

This morning I was walking to my prototyping area from my office when I opened a door for a lady about my age. Her comment “Wow, there are still some true gentlemen out there. I lost my faith in men.  Chivalry is still alive!” I was kind of shocked by this statement, but at the same time it was refreshing to hear. My question is this – where are all the decent women hiding? I’ve lost my faith in women, and have just about given up hope of finding the “one”. This weekend I was telling a friend of mine that I’m satisfied with my life right now, and don’t really need to be involved with someone in order to be happy. For some reason the comment that this woman made this morning gave me some hope.

What’s up Y’all?

It’s been some time since this blog/journal has been updated. There has been way too much stuff that has been keeping me busy. Earlier this month I went to Las Vegas to attend the NASCAR races. It was a very interesting experience this time since the track has been re-done. For more on my trip to Vegas, check out my blog at the Rowdy Racing Social Network. If you are a NASCAR fan, Rowdy is the place to be.

Work has been busy as usual – I have been working on patch updates with our existing clients. I am also working with Windows Vista and Office 2007. Both are such different beasts that Vista won’t be ready for prime time for a little while. Too much software is not working correctly or at all. Oh well, at least I have some really good build notes that will make things easier when it is time to go Vista.

As for working out, I haven’t been to Healthsport at all this month. Things have been just way too busy since coming back from Vegas. My goal is to resume going to the gym tomorrow. I’m feeling it. One thing I have noticed is when I work out, I feel better mentally and physically.

1/8/06 – One Year Later

It’s been exactly one year since I was giving my “relationship” walking papers. I don’t miss the drama and the constant ups and downs that the relationship had. However, I do wish her the best and happiness with her life.

As for me, I’m continuing to work on improving myself. This exercise thing has been working out well so far and I feel pretty good after the workouts. I feel less winded when walking on campus and doing normal chores. Can’t beat that! :) Now if only work wasn’t so insane day in and out.

Gotta love Scrubs! :)

It’s paying off so far!

Working out seems to be paying off so far.  I haven’t really lost any weight yet (a few lbs. here or there), but I definitely have more energy.  The only problem I’m having right now is that I am becoming lightheaded due to my blood pressure medication.  The good news is I took my blood pressure today and it was 106/76.  Wow – this is a big improvement over my highest BP of 160/110.  I am very happy.
